Presented by BBC Introducing in Kent, as part of their stage takeover at Compass Festival 2026: Already established in the South East music scene, Freya McKenna is now introducing her take on Neo-Soul to London’s underground circuit. With the title of ‘Record of the Week” (BBC Introducing Kent) under her belt, this independent female artist has become one to watch out for in the grassroots sphere. Infusing the intimacy of jazzy R&B with all the groove of Bossa Nova, her music has been compared to the likes of Cleo Sol & Olivia Dean. Resonating with young people across the country, her lyricism tackles issues of identity and navigating the music industry as a small-town artist. Amassing a combined total of over 45k streams on Spotify since her debut in 2023, Freya McKenna has been labelled as “one of the most exciting names in not only the Folkestone live scene, but the whole county” (Abby McCarthy).
